Sri Lanka has focused on the thematic area of climate-induced L&D through policy and action, with the primary contribution being from public finance. In the lead-up to the 28th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which will take place in November/December 2023, Parties are focused on identifying approaches and solutions for addressing priority needs, better implement solutions, and mobilise means of implementation, including technical support for building long-term resilience to climate risks.
In this context, the Ministry of Environment in partnership with SLYCAN Trust is hosting a workshop on climate-induced loss and damage in Sri Lanka. This event aims to identify gaps and needs related to addressing climate-induced loss and damage while building on existing policy processes and programmes of action focused on this area as well as on risk management, risk finance, and risk transfer to better contribute to national and global processes.
