Mareer Mohamed Husny

Mr. Mareer Mohamed Husny has more than two decades of experience on advising environmental safeguard issues in small island sates. Mr. Husny has expertise on area of environmental conservation, sustainable development, climate change adaptation and mitigation. Mr. Husny has a wealth of experience within UNFCCC climate negotiations. He served at Government of Maldives at senior positions and part of the Maldivian Delegation to climate change negotiations. Mr. Husny also served as Lead Negotiator for AOSIS from 2015 – 2018 and was a part of the team that delivered historic Paris Agreement and its rule package. Mr. Husny served as a member of the Technology Executive Committee from 2016 – 2023 and served as chair and vice-chair of TEC in 2020 and 2021 respectively. Currently Mr. Husny is a member of the Consultative Group of Experts under UNFCCC. Recently, Mr. Husny served as Senior Climate Advisor to Samoa during 2023 to 2024. Mr. Husny has worked with several international organization including UNDP, UNICEF, the World Bank, USAID, GIZ, ADB and UNEP.

Mr. Husny has Masters of Environment from University of Melbourne, Australia and Bachelor of Science from University of Mysore, India.
