Aileen was a long-serving member of the Climate Change team at the Ministry of Environment in the Maldives, where she rose to the position of Director by 2021. She is passionate about enhancing equitable access to finance.
At the Ministry, Aileen worked extensively to mobilize climate finance for national adaptation and mitigation projects, served as the National Designated Authority Focal Point for the Green Climate Fund, and co-led climate finance negotiations on behalf of the Alliance of Small Island States. She has also contributed to international climate finance processes, including technical work related to adaptation and loss and damage finance at the UNFCCC.
Aileen holds a Master of Science in Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and International Studies from Monash University, Australia.
