Welcome to the new year 2026, where SLYCAN Trust continues its work on climate change, security, oceans, sustainable development, biodiversity and ecosystem conservation, animal welfare, and social justice including gender and youth empowerment, and multilateral processes.
The year began with a High-Level Forum on Climate Finance and Climate-Related Extreme Events in Colombo organized by SLYCAN Trust in response to Cyclone Ditwah, which made landfall in Sri Lanka in late 2025. The forum convened policymakers, private sector, representatives of international funds, international technical and policy experts, and other actors to discuss gaps, needs, and solutions on access to finance for loss and damage.
Furthermore, our work this month focused on the nexus of security and climate change; technology; human mobility; climate and disaster risk management; and black carbon as a key piece at the intersection of climate change, health, and air pollution.
