Hello and welcome back to our monthly newsletter. As we compile this, we are in the midst of preparing for our session at the 7 th Asia-Pacific Forum on Adaptation. February 2021 may have been a short month, but it has been a busy month! We have been making a slow re-entry to the field since the beginning of the year, navigating our way through the existing COVID-19 guidelines and trying to do the work while keeping everybody safe. What a start to the new year it has been!January 2021 has been quite exciting for us - we had a great series of virtual workshops, found ourselves back in the field for research, and secured a formal partnership with one of the long-term entities we have been working with.As we continue to navigate our way through the COVID-19 pandemic and map out project activities in this "new normal," we are grateful for your support and contribution that really help to make our events a success. Happy new year to all of our subscribers! We hope that this year will be filled with success and prosperity. Looking back at the month of December, it's fair to say that we ended the year with a bang. We had two very successful virtual events, the Virtual Summit on Just Transition followed by our Global Youth Forum on Climate Change.In January 2021, we are right back to work! While we navigate our way through the existing COVID-19 guidelines in trying to plan out our field work and project activities, we have also begun working on a few new exciting initiatives, some of which are a first for SLYCAN Trust. We are pleased to branch out in to newer and current areas of discussion in order to solidify our stance as a civil society organisation as well as to learn and contribute more to important discussions. What an exciting month November was! We continued to take our work online and took part in the Race-to-Zero November Dialogues followed by the Climate Dialogues 2020 hosted by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, as well as a number of other virtual events. We also took part in capacity-building activities at a number of events and workshops organised by member networks and partner organisations as we continued our ongoing research, applied for new grants, and continued with our outreach and promotional activities. We are right in the middle of preparing our Global Youth Forum on Climate Change and finalised our Virtual Summit on Just Transition, which is starting today! Despite Sri Lanka going back into a partial lockdown due to a new rise of COVID-19 cases, it has been a busy month for SLYCAN Trust. We took much of our work to the digital space, participated in events across continents, and conducted a two-week Virtual Summit on Resilient and Regenerative Food Systems with many distinguished speakers and panellists from Sri Lanka and across the globe. Heading into the final few months of 2020, there is no stopping us from making the most of our online tools as we are currently in the midst of organising the Fifth Global Youth Forum on Climate Change as well as a Virtual Summit on Just Transition. After the first field trip in July, SLYCAN Trust spent most of August and September catching up on project activities that had been postponed due to COVID-19. We had a number of in-person workshops on different topics,consultations with technical experts, meetings with farmers and youth from the farming communities, and a lot of research and outreach activities! After the long COVID-19 curfew and travel restrictions, SLYCAN Trust is nowback to work in the field--with all proper safety precautions, of course. In Julyand August 2020, we have pursued our ongoing projects on topics includingclimate risk and risk transfer in the agriculture sector, climate-inducedmigration and displacement, mangrove conservation and restoration, the Meatless Monday campaign, adaptation and resilience, coastal and marineecosystems, and human-wildlife conflict. It has been a busy, but very successful couple of weeks, and we are grateful toour dedicated and motivated team for their efforts and hard work! In particular,we want to welcome our newest team members, five young professionals thathave started in July or August: Ashan, Chalani, Nipun, Thilini, and Thimali.Welcome onboard!

Climate change increasingly influences and shapes the patterns of human mobility across the world. From internal or international migration to disaster displacement and planned relocation, the impacts of climate change create new push and pull factors, exacerbate underlying vulnerabilities, and alter the interaction of aspirations, perceived opportunities, and decision-making related to human mobility. With regard to the integration of human mobility considerations into climate policies and processes, it is therefore critical to understand the context and multi-causal, multi-directional nature of these linkages between different forms of mobility and different impacts of climate change. This scoping paper aims to identify key aspects, elements, and considerations for enhancing the integration of safe and orderly human mobility into Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), National Adaptation Plans (NAP), and other climate-related policies, processes, and documents.
